EVERGLADES FLORIDA – The Student Conservation Association (SCA) decided to bring me back for their Alternative Spring Break cleanup in South Florida. Alternative Spring Break is composed of college students, who volunteer their spring break to travel across America, and help clean up, or restore national parks. In this case, we were in the Chikika State Park, down in the Everglades.
Let me tell you folks, this was no vacation. The sky may have been the bluest I have ever seen it, but the sun spared no expense on shedding some killer Florida heat and humidity! yikes! These brave college kids worked like champs, from sunrise to sunset, clearing brush and picking up garbage. The amount of work they accomplished within the one day of me being there, was nothing short of remarkable. It’s a good feeling know that the SCA exist, and they are making our world a little better one day at a time. 🙂
